Overview:
Our client is seeking a senior candidate to lead its transmission engineering, procurement, and construction group, reporting directly to the firm's President. In this role, the leader will be a crucial participant in the company’s new business development team that is responsible for identifying technical and commercial solutions to transmission (overhead, underground, sub-marine, substation, and FACTS devices) needs that are differentiated from a cost and/or technical perspective. Seeking someone who has a solid track record of commercial success negotiating and managing contracts for transmission projects.
Role:
- Negotiation and administration /management of all engineering, procurement, and construction contracts for projects developed by the company.
- Strong commercial background must include negotiating and managing contracts for transmission projects involving multiple counterparties and contract structures.
- Responsibility for developing the contracting strategy for engineering, procurement, and construction services to fit with the goals and risk profile of the project and the company (e.g., traditional lump-sum EPC, E plus PC, owner-managed under multiple contracts, etc.).
- Project execution including meeting company objectives for safety, quality, budget, and schedule.
- Mentoring internal staff, managing teams, maintaining relationships with contractors and vendors, and staying abreast of the market and technological industry advancements.
- Superb management capabilities as well as a unique balance of technical ability and commercial acumen to ensure success.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions and risk management strategies will be critical to the success of this role.
Qualifications:
- Minimum qualifications include a BS degree in Engineering.
- At least ten years combined experience in engineering design, project management, procurement, and construction of large-scale high voltage transmission projects (115kV – 500kV & above) in the power delivery industry.
- Familiarity with IEEE, ASCE, and OSHA standards and requirements is beneficial.
- Previous field experience and experience managing personnel at various levels of the business would be desirable.
- Experience in geographically diverse regions of North America is desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and able to function effectively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple assignments occasionally under time constraints
- Exceptional project and process management skills.
- Strong decision-making skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to clearly communicate complex issues in preparing briefs and other documents.
- Occasional travel may be required.
